About the Artist Brenda F. Murphy
Brenda Fettig Murphy was born and raised in New York City and has lived in Kalamazoo, Michigan for over twenty-five years. Her background includes formal education in math and science, a Bachelor's degree from Trinity College in Washington, D.C. and an M.A. from Columbia, as well as several different careers one of which was owning a full-service market research company for ten years.
Creativity and "doing or studying art" were always a part of her life as was traveling.
Her travels have taken her to every continent of the world including Antarctica. Murphy's art works reflect her love of color, humor, variety of media and travel.
Her first solo exhibit at The Kingscott Gallery in Kalamazoo in January 2003, "Antarctica: A Trip to the Bottom of the World", was based on her sketch book drawings and photographs from her trip there in 1998. Murphy's work has been shown and sold in Kalamazoo, Saugatuck, Douglas, St. Joseph, Three Rivers, Petoskey, and Grand Rapids and in Grand Cayman.
